Josh Schairbaum
San Antonio, TexasCreative technologist of software, story, and sound
I'm a creator, technologist, and narrative designer based in San Antonio, Texas. My creative process blends in-depth story architecture with a full-stack production workflow.
To power these projects, I founded Great Western Productions, a production intelligence company that is the formal home for my work. GWP's mission is to build systems that empower creators, and I use its AI-augmented engine, StoryLab, to build, test, and launch creative ideas more efficiently.
My process
Every project begins with story architecture: building the narrative foundations, character systems, and world logic that make a universe feel real. From there I move into full-stack production, designing, writing, recording, coding, and deploying across multiple platforms.
StoryLab accelerates this workflow by handling research, iteration, and technical scaffolding, which leaves me on creative direction and execution. The result is a production process that is both human and technologically enhanced.
The shape of the catalog
The worlds come first. I build a territory or a label as a record that holds up under research, and the other formats follow from it. A wrestling promotion gives me a print quarterly and a video archive. A record label gives me albums and a radio station to play them on. Each surface tells the same history in the voice of a different medium, and none of them contradicts the others.
The software is part of the same catalog. A song service needs an order workflow. A radio station needs a player that keeps the stream alive across navigation. Building those is the same work as building the worlds, one layer down.
